Today we’re excited to welcome the Stately Cloud team to Databricks. This transaction continues to build on our deep investment in the core Databricks Data Intelligence Platform.
Operating critical systems at scale
The Stately Cloud team brings deep experience building and operating some of the largest distributed systems in the world, including Amazon and Snapchat. Founders Alex Strand and Ben Hollis led reliability efforts at Amazon that were critical to maintaining uptime and performance during peak events like Black Friday, and delivered a global rewrite of the core Snapchat Messaging product that modernized Snap’s services infrastructure. They continued this focus at Stately Cloud, which took an innovative approach to database schema management to eliminate the risk of downtime due to data model changes.
Their backgrounds include resiliency engineering and the realities of operating globally distributed systems—capabilities that are necessary to support mission-critical workloads at enterprise scale.
We will use this experience directly to strengthen the core of the Data Intelligence Platform and help customers build and operate the next generation of Data Intelligent Applications with confidence.
Building infrastructure for the era of agents
The Data Intelligence Platform supports applications where availability, accuracy and speed directly impact the business, from the Fox Sports Fan Experience to managing at scale in the Block. Providing these experiences requires a platform designed to work reliably across multiple clouds and over a hundred regions.
Reliability at this base layer plays a critical role. Enables Data Intelligent Applications to work continuously, autonomously and securely in production. As customers increasingly accept Agent Bricks, Lakebase, and DatabricksApps To take advantage of sophisticated AI use cases, expectations for continuous availability, intelligent scaling, and robust fault tolerance will continue to grow.
By strengthening the core of our platform, we are creating an environment where AI workloads can scale globally while maintaining correctness, performance and operational clarity.
